Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic, physical form of yoga founded by Pattabhi Jois with the aim of purifying the body. The foundation of Ashtanga Yoga is the synchronization of breathing and body movements. The sequencing of the different stretches is carefully thought out by Pattabi Jois to go through the entire body to cleanse, strengthen and revitalize all internal organs and muscles.
Ashtanga is the foundation of all Vinyasa and different types of Flow Yoga. Coming back to the foundation will give you a chance to revise your form and technique to safely play around in the other yoga forms.
All levels are welcome. Some experience of sun salutations can be helpful.
