There can be many reasons why not to start yoga, like: feeling uncomfortable in a yoga studio, because you do not know what to do, you do not feel flexible enough, or you feel overweight, or you do not have a flashy yoga gear etc. In this class, and in general, none of these are important. Do not let any of these thoughts or feelings holding you back from coming to class. Just show up and support is going to be offered by means of props and modifications, so that you can feel comfortable and at ease. Get into your body, breathe, calm down, move out of the stress of life and discover the bountiful benefits of yoga.

In this relaxing yoga class we use lots of props, like blocks, blankets, pillows, bolsters etc. to support the body, so that the muscles can relax completely. Similarly to yin yoga we hold the poses longer, but we open the different body parts by relaxing, loosening and softening the muscles. If you are stressed, tired, overworked, have a burnout or an injury, this class may contribute to restore your body and relax your nervous system. It is a combination of restorative yoga poses, pranayama (breathing exercises), a short meditation, and a long final savasana. Suitable for all ages, all levels and any bodies. The relaxation in the class is enhanced by the power of high quality essential oils.

Breathwork (pranayama) is one of the 5 pillars of yoga according to Swami Sivananda and crucial in undergoing a full yoga class experience. That's why every Power Yoga class in this series starts with just this. Afterwards be prepared to move! We start flowing, focusing on connecting breath to movement, and building heat, strength, and flexibility. Challenging postures are explored including balancing poses, inversions and backbends. At least some yoga and a maintained physical condition is recommended to join this class. However, different levels are welcome and modifications will be given if needed. Every class ends with a well deserved guided savasana (final relaxation).

Restore, heal, and calm the mind, body, and soul while encouraging the letting go of physical and emotional stress. Opposite to dynamic styles of yoga where we find strength in contracting our muscles, we find instead a passive stretch focused on relaxing the muscles. In this way we are able to reach the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues - ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia networks. To strengthen and stretch these target areas we hold the poses for anywhere between 2- 5 minutes utilizing directional breathing techniques. This provides deep relaxation, internal bodily awareness, the ability to recognize and respect our boundaries, and stimulates meridians and organs. Many modifications are provided along with cushions, blankets, and blocks to adjust the practice to exactly what your body needs for easy relaxation.

Restore power and flexibility in the body through repetitive cycles of postures. We end with a relaxation which asks you to actively relax your body and feel the effects of the class you just had.
