Description
This workshop will present an overview to equip teachers with knowledge and tools to help students with various forms of trauma. We will examine the impact of trauma on the individual and how it affects a student in a yoga class. Yoga teachers can learn to better understand trauma and develop skills to help support students to become empowered through the practice of Iyengar Yoga. The workshop will include a presentation by a Social Worker on the causes and manifestations of trauma and how to help those with trauma to build resilience.

Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event and can arise from physical injury or accident, proximity or exposure, PTSD, addiction/rehabilitation, loss, and emotional scars. Longer-term reactions to trauma can include emotional, mental, relational and physical symptoms.
