Eight years ago, I discovered something about myself that was both surprising and transformative: I suffered from anxiety, and I had no clue. This realisation occurred during one of my trainings on addictions. The trainer mentioned a very simple trait, and I thought, “Wow, this is me.” That was an Aha moment that completely transformed my life.
Anxiety isn’t always obvious. You don’t need to have an anxiety attack or feel fearful or nervous to be anxious.
Anxiety can be very subtle and invisible, especially if you are highly functioning. You may even be praised for how you’re seen on the surface: high-achieving, perfectionist, driven, outgoing, detail-oriented, bending over backwards to help others.
Anxiety can be masked under perfectionism, trouble saying no, keeping excessively busy, procrastination as a result of striving for perfection, self-criticism, need for control, and fear of failure among others.
It can manifest in constant worrying, analyzing, and overthinking. Worrying about money, your job, your relationships (or lack of them), not being good enough, your weight, body image, the lines on your face, people you love, what’s going on in the world, your endless to-do list, etc.
Social media and comparing our lives and bodies to others add fuel to the fire of self-doubt and perfectionism because our biggest fear is the fear of not being good enough, which leads to more anxiety.
I am very excited to launch the new 6 weeks Kundalini Yoga series on Hacking Anxiety & Overwhelm.
We will explore how to radically change your experience of yourself using the latest neuroplasticity concepts, how the anxiety system has been weaponised against us, the different ways to "hack the amygdala" and much more :-)
The online classes are on Mondays from 7pm to 8:30pm. A recording of each session is available the day after until one week after the course ends. We start next Monday 17th of June, sothat you can catch up at your convenience or practise again for the most eagers :-)
