This class is recommended for students of all-levels. It will incorporate many variations of sun salutations (Sanskrit: Surya Namaskar A & B). Sun salutations use alternate stretching, bending of the spinal column and compression of the abdominal region to tone the digestive system and nervous system. This movement activates digestion and aids in reducing constipation. In this class, students will learn how to synchronize breath with movement. Breath is extremely important in a yoga practice because the lungs become thoroughly ventilated and the blood becomes oxygenated, which creates a detoxifying effect. Toxins are easily eliminated through the skin, lungs, intestines, and kidneys. Additional benefits of sun salutations include warming up the body by increasing cardiac activity and blood flow throughout the entire body.
