Description
In today’s world, young people are just as prone to feeling the stresses and strains of modern day life as the adults around them. With this in mind, kids’ yoga is becoming a more and more important resource. By sharing yoga with kids, we can offer young people a tool-box bursting full of practical skills they can take out into their lives. We will learn to create spaces where young people feel strong, brave and able to be themselves.

This course has been designed as an introduction to sharing yoga with kids and young people. It will get you thinking about how you can use your existing skills as a yoga teacher to share creative, safe and fun classes with young people.

Course Outline
This course can be taken by any teacher wishing to improve their skills in this area as Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The course will run as five weekly sessions of three hours, and combine theory, practice and skills development.

1. The importance of play - learning the basic principles of kids’ yoga and how we sequence a class.
2. Childhood development - exploring different age groups and how we can meet their needs.
3. Managing the space - looking at different behavioural management skills and seeing how we can put them to use.
4. Meet them where there are - learning how to be creative and flexible in your teaching to fit the needs of the kids in front of you
5. The business of kids yoga - discussing practical ways of getting out there and sharing yoga with young people.

There are limited spaces available. As this course focusses on preparing you to share yoga with kids and young people, live attendance is required. You are able to miss one session and a recorded session can be provided for the missed module only at no further cost. If you need to miss the final week, which includes a teaching practice and feedback session, a catch up session may be be provided at the trainer's discretion, and will incur an extra charge.

Pre-requisites
This course is designed for those who have completed, or are in the process of completing a 200 hour yoga teacher training program.

About Becky:

Becky is a yoga teacher and kirtan leader who believes in the importance of play and silliness in life. She initially trained as a yoga teacher with AllYogaBali, and went on to complete further training with YogaGro, Nikki Slade and Rainbow Yoga.

Her work as an actor initially led her to get involved with theatre-in-education, sharing live performances with thousands of kids around the UK. She then began teaching performing arts with Stagecoach and has over 10 years of experience working with 3-18 year olds.

It was inevitable that her love of yoga and her experience of teaching kids would eventually be brought together. Her work is varied and sends her around Oxfordshire and Berkshire sharing yoga in a wide range of schools. Through her work she has come to understand the importance of play in our lives. She is constantly in awe at how kids are able to unashamedly be themselves and thinks we adults could learn a thing or two from them.
