DESCRIPTION: This class will enable you to deepen your practice both physically and mentally and be as challenging as you wish to make it.

Restorative Yoga is a practice where each pose is held for longer to relax the body, reduce stress and prepare for relaxation. As our students are quite experienced, we are taking this a little further in what we are now calling Progressive Restorative Yoga.

This focuses on precision and alignment using many of the principles from the teachings of BKS Iyengar including the use of props like balls, blocks, bands and chairs to support and challenge our bodies. Poses are held for longer than normal, to build strength &amp; flexibility, release both physical &amp; mental blocks and deepen concentration. It will safely target the deep connective tissues like fascia &amp; ligaments to improve joint mobility and flexibility. Time will be taken to rest between poses to enable our bodies to learn and adapt from the experience. We will later explore the power of pranayama (breath work).

Everyone will be able to work at their own pace, holding postures as hard as they wish, for as long as they are able and resting in between.
