Appreciative Joy is also known as Sympathetic Joy and the Pali word, Mudita. It is one of the 4 Divine Abodes or Bhramaviharas. These are Loving-Kindness, Compassion, Equanimity, and Appreciative Joy.

Do not overrate what you have received, nor envy others. He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind. -Buddha

How can we invite more joy into our lives? It is important to remember that we cannot make ourselves feel joy. We can, however, set the intention to be more open to joy and to cultivate it through repeated and patient practice.

Phrases
May I/you be happy for the joy I have.
May my/your joy increase.
May I/you be grateful and content.
