In order to work towards splits, we will open the hips in all directions. By doing this we’re working towards a box split, for which the inner thighs need to let go, and towards a front split for which hamstrings and hip flexors need to lengthen. Don’t let the title ‘splits’ scare you! It is just the reference pose we use to open this area of our bodies.
