Hundreds of cultures across the globe have used dance as ritual, for expression, connection, or during times of celebration. In this Yoga Dance Meditation practice, we will experience what it feels like to be fully present, fully aware and fully alive in our body, using movement as medicine.
Yoga Dance Meditation, was born out of trying to find a fitness practice safe for my post partum body. Not having the time to do traditional meditation and many postures inaccessible to my healing body, this class was devised to help me sweat and let go, as well as being a hell of a lot of fun! As this is not choreographed and we don't try to get into rigid postures its perfect for all body shapes and sizes and especially for pregnant or healing mommas!
The class is divided into three parts, first the guided dance section where we'll close our eyes and let the music take us away. This is followed by a yoga sequence to help stretch and strengthen our warm bodies, encouraging exploration, self discovery and resilience both on and off the mat. We finish with a relaxation, bringing it all together, so you leave feeling relaxed and ready for your week ahead.
All you need in order to do this practice is to:
Wear something comfortable
Have a body.
Close your eyes and let the music take you away!
You don't need to be a dancer in order to do this practice! Just move however FEELS right for you.
