Daphne embarked on her Ashtanga yoga journey in Asia in 2006 under the guidance of Alexander Medin in Hong Kong & Bella Lipat in the Philippines. She initially trained to teach the Sivananda traditions whilst opening up a first-of-it’s-kind yoga studio in her hometown with her business partner. Daphne became sufficiently inspired by the positive effects of her practice as a yoga instructor and her own personal yoga inquisition to undertake her first formal yoga training in India in 2009. She then expanded her ancient practice modality in Thailand, conducting a Traditional Thai Massage Therapy course in Women’s Healthcare before her big move to the UK in 2010. On her move to London, Daphne retained her yogic journey in the traditional yoga lineage, attending asana classes, pranayama and kirtans at Satyananda Yoga Center and Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center whilst continuing with her on-going Ashtanga practice and study, taking specialist Teacher Training courses and workshops under the Ashtanga vinyasa method.
Daphne extends gratitude to all her teachers past and present, and continues to study in her favoured areas of interest to add depth to her knowledge for her own internal nourishment and to share it with other practitioners.
Description
Students practice a sequence of postures at their own pace, while the teacher offers one-on-one insight and assistance to each student. Practicing in this way is called Mysore-style. This unique method of yoga practice allows for students of varying physical abilities to share space, creating a diverse community. It is designed for students who are able to commit to attending at least two days a week over a long period of time. Class size is limited to allow for more individual attention.
The shala is open for self-practice from 7:15-8:45am every Monday and Tuesday then 6:15pm-7:30pm every Wednesday, with assistance & adjustments being offered during the session.
The shala can be opened for practice on Saturday from 7:45am-9am with advance arrangement. Please contact by emailing practice@syzygyyoga.co.uk for access to the shala.

Description
Learn the fundamentals of the Ashtanga vinyasa yoga practice in a safe and supportive environment. In this class, students will learn the basic technique of breathing and movement (often referred to as vinyasa), meditative gazing (dristhi), and internal energy locks (bandha). Students will be incorporating these elements through the initial sequence of Sun Salutation A & B then moving to all of the standing postures with introduction to sanskrit counting.

Hi all, as you might have heard or seen on Insta stories shared and supported by few local businesses around and individuals, few yoga teachers are gathering around Broadstairs to celebrate with you and practice together this auspicious day of the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. We are welcoming the Sun reciting a few mantras which also involves twelve asanas to signify the cycle of the Sun of which the sun passes every year in 12 phases. Each mantra of Surya namaskar involves a different posture or asana and charges the different parts of the body. There are 12 different locations around Broadstairs’ beaches plus four indoor spaces selected to do performed 9 rounds each and in a total of 108 rounds of Sun Salutation is aimed at achieving this challenge. Also, this is to commemorate the celebration for International Yoga Day.

Description
A slow, meditative yoga class, that gently stretches the deeper muscles, joints and fascia in the body and helps quiet the mind. Yin yoga compliments a more dynamic yoga practice; softening, letting go, backing off and allowing the breath to still the mind. Time, as duration in holding each posture, is an important aspect of the practice, allowing your body release to gravity and be carried through by the slowing breath.

This is a led class which will guide you through Ashtanga’s Primary Series standing sequence, some of the seated postures and some of the peak poses – in an accessible and safe way. On some days we will be exploring some intermediate postures as well to give you a glimpse of the second series and create a strong, diverse and enjoyable practice. We will be moving with the breath so that your practice will eventually turn into more of a moving meditation.

Description
A traditional Sanskrit counted led class aiming to cover the full Primary series. This led class reinforces the proper vinyasa system – when to inhale and when to exhale as you enter in and out of each asana.
Students will be guided through the poses based on their familiarity and proficiency in the practice with additional instruction and modifications provided so the practice is accessible to all. For both new and experienced students, led first series or primary class is an important compliment to a regular Mysore practice. It’s an opportunity to ensure that each vinyasa is being learned and practiced correctly.
Following the teacher’s count and pacing, is an opportunity to increase both our internal and external strength.
Ashtanga yoga is a form of practice that cultivates and harnesses the healing power of synchronizing breath with movement. Class size is limited to allow for more individual attention.
Students will be guided through the poses based on their familiarity and proficiency in the practice with additional instruction and modifications provided so the practice is accessible to all. For both new and experienced students, led first series or primary class is an important compliment to a regular Mysore practice. It’s an opportunity to ensure that each vinyasa is being learned and practiced correctly.
Following the teacher’s count and pacing, is an opportunity to increase both our internal and external strength.
