Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time than in a hatha or vinyasa class. This class consists of a series of long-held floor poses followed by a Yoga Nidra practice, a guided meditation for deep rest. Yoga Nidra is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping induced by a guided meditation. Through this practice, practitioners will achieve a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and they will become systematically and increasingly aware of their inner world by following a set of verbal instructions.
