Our YogaBasics Beginner Series Course is aimed at beginners seeking to establish a safe, solid foundation for their yoga practice (or more experienced students seeking to revisit foundations). Over an 8-week period, in a methodical manner you will be taught the most common physical postures and be introduced to other aspects of yoga including breath techniques, simple meditation practices and a basic overview of yoga history and philosophy. The course is based on Ashtanga yoga tradition with influences from Iyengar yoga.  Postures are divided into Levels 1 & 2 and instruction will focus on: alignment, safely transitioning in and out of each pose, contraindications and benefits, and introduction to gentler and stronger options for each pose.

Using a variety of props (including bolsters, blocks, straps and walls) to help gradually develop flexibility, increase strength and stamina, and most of all, your confidence and enthusiasm, the course will offer a workshop-style approach and include one or two flow-style classes covering the postures we have learned.
