Jivamukti Spiritual Warrior classes are designed for busy people who only have an hour to practice. The class is fast paced and invigorating and is certainly a “get-in-shape” class. The structure is a fixed set sequence instructed in a vinyasa style. It is a fully balanced class which includes asana warm-up, chanting, setting of intention, Surya Namaskar, standing poses, backbends, forward bends, twists, inversions, meditation, and relaxation. The teacher focuses on keeping the pace moving and does not stop to give spiritual discourses. Since the asana sequence is always the same, a student will pick it up quite quickly after only a couple of classes.

Jivamukti is the favorite yoga movement of many famous Americans and was founded in 1984 in New York by Sharon Gannon and David Life. Together they have played an important role in bringing Yoga to the attention and making it accessible to a wider audience. The lessons are physically demanding and have many (deeper) layers because in each lesson the five Jivamukti Yoga pillars are discussed. In addition to the practice of yoga postures in a dynamic flow, there is always attention during a Jivamukti class for these five central principles: Shastra (the ancient scriptures), bhakti (devotion), ahimsa (nonviolence, non-injury), NADA ( music) and Dhyana (meditation).

Zij hebben samen een belangrijke rol gespeeld in het onder de aandacht brengen van Yoga en het toegankelijk maken voor een groter publiek. De lessen zijn fysiek veeleisend en hebben veel (diepere) lagen omdat in elke les de vijf Jivamukti Yoga pijlers aan bod komen. Naast de beoefening van de in dynamische flow uitgevoerde yogahoudingen is er tijdens een Jivamukti les ook altijd aandacht voor deze vijf centrale uitgangspunten: Shastra (de oude geschriften), bhakti (devotie /toewijding), ahimsa (geweldloosheid, niet-schaden), NADA (muziek) en Dhyana (meditatie).
