I was introduced to yoga as a child when my Mum decided to go to community classes and took me with her. This interest was rekindled when I was in my early twenties, burnt out and out of shape from taking on a garden nursery business and living an unhealthy lifestyle. I discovered Iyengar Yoga initially, which I enjoyed for the discipline, alignment and dedication needed to advance. However, after 13 years, I realized I was missing the philosophy and grace of yoga and turned to Hatha Yoga. This opened up my world to the other side of yoga incorporating more flow and yoga wisdom. After another 4 years of Hatha, I decided to study to become a Yoga teacher focusing on Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra and later Yin Yoga. I chose these styles of yoga as I believe they have healing properties to counteract the busyness and stress of modern life. They have also helped in my own healing journey with mental health, adrenal issues and stress. I love being able to impart yoga psychology in my classes through the chakra system but also to allow a space where students can feel safe enough to release to relax. Body, mind and soul connection through breath work and asana (postures) allows for deep healing and self-care.
