Restorative Yoga is relatively new, but the interest for this type of sessions is rapidly growing.

In today’s society it’s very easy to be busy from the very moment you wake up. As soon as we open our eyes there are so many things around us inviting us to either consume or produce. We look at the latest updates on our phone or listen to them as we get ready for our day. We produce by working, doing things for the people we love, creating food and care.

How often do you take time to rest?

Rest and restoring is essential to keep up our busy lifestyles. Yet how often do you allow yourself to not DO? When we rest there is absolute Relaxation, as we are effortlessly in stillness and quiet.

Why practice Restorative Yoga?

Restorative Yoga poses help us learn to rest deeply and completely. We use props (blankets, bolsters) to support the physical body in comfortable positions. This stimulates the Parasympathetic Nervous System, responsible for calming our heart rates, quieting the brain and finding balance to come out of our Fight or Flight mode.

By simple but conscious placement of the props in each pose, you will not need to TRY to relax. The signals received by your body will make it let go of tension simply by being in the poses. This allows you to rest deeply, with your mind still aware, but you will notice that the more tension the body releases, the quieter the mind will become.

Is Restorative Yoga for everyone?

Yes! The beauty of Restorative Yoga is that we can adjust every pose to fit every body. Whether you are top fit or suffering from injuries, Restorative Yoga will be a good addition to your lifestyle.

Although restorative postures may look simple and peaceful, it can be challenging for 'new relaxers' or at times when the mind or the physical body is diseased. It may take time to adjust and adapt to doing 'nothing' and be in active rest, allowing the mind to settle.

The key is patience and willingness to let go... to relax and restore.
