DESCRIPTION: This class starts with soft stretches laying down, warming up hips, legs, shoulders and back before gradually moving into a selection of easy yoga postures such as moon salutations, standing and seated postures. The class is accompanied by meditative music with a focus on correct breathing, soft stretches and slowing the nervous system down. Towards the end of the class we incorporate pranayama (breathing techniques) meditation and relaxation. Open to all levels.

Gunn Haglund, a former news presenter and media executive, started a regular Asthanga yoga practice in 1998 and gradually developed a keen interest in Yoga philosophy, meditation, energy medicine and Ayurveda health. Gunn completed a two year Yoga teacher training course at Triyoga London December 2009, Ashtanga teacher training with Petri Raisanen, a Thai Yoga Massage course, Vipassana meditation as well as a range of anatomy and energy workshops. Gunn teaches Asthanga yoga, Dynamic Vinyasa Flow and restorative Yin yoga at Oslo Yoga, Northern Light Yoga and Yoga By the Sea, in addition to organising yoga and meditation retreats in Tuscany and Umbria.

COVID-19 GUIDELINES AT THE SHALA

We remain open although in smaller scale until further notice.

In times of Covid-19 and other seasonal flu please observe the following guidelines when you come to practice at the shala:

– If possible shower before you come to practice

– Wash your hands before and after class. Use hand sanitizer

– Bring YOUR OWN yoga mat, avoid using the the studio mats

– Bring a sweat towel

– Take your mat home and clean it AND wipe it after every practice

– Wash your practice clothes and mat towel after each practice

– Stay at home if you’re feeling sick (you should never practice with fever or sore throat anyway)

– Avoid using props or blankets at the shala

– Be ok with not receiving any physical adjustments

We ask you all to kindly cooperate so that we don’t have to close or risk spreading any virus.
