DESCRIPTION: Yin postures are primarily about release. They are passive in nature and held anywhere from one to five minutes to target the body’s connective tissues. This practice focuses on stilling the body for a gentle, sustained sensation rather than a deep stretch. This stillness, combined with gentle movement and breathwork, calms the mind, settles the nervous system and promotes improved mobility. Helpful props for this practice include: yoga bolsters; blankets; yoga blocks; and a yoga strap (or tie or scarf). Some props (bolsters, blocks and straps) are available in studio. Feel free to bring your own blanket(s) and/or props.
