Prenatal Yoga is a beautiful way to strengthen the body, mind, and spirit in preparation for birth and beyond. Each practice is intelligently designed to stretch & strengthen the body with specific considerations to how the body is changing during this sacred time. Your practice will include not only physical movements, but breath work and meditation all of which adapted to each phase of pregnancy. Expect to feel nourished and to come away with new knowledge that can help inform your pregnancy, birth and Motherhood.

My mission is to prepare pregnant people to birth in awareness and have an embodied experience of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I'm not interested in how you give birth, where it takes place, or who your care provider is. I am interested in whether you feel prepared to make the decisions that align fully with your heart & soul. I want you to travel through pregnancy and into birth and postpartum with a 'I got this mentality!" and when something new or unexpected happens that you have the awareness to stay centred and feel in control of how things will proceed in the future.

**If you give birth and have not completed using your classes, we will honour them for classes when you are ready to return.

A Celebration Day for Girls

A Celebration Day for Girls is a one-day workshop for 10-12 years old girls with their mother or female carer.

This is the first time A Celebration Day for Girls Program will be offered in Canada!

The program is designed to support girls and mothers at this special threshold in both their lives, to provide an affirming, grounded and connected celebration of the journey to womanhood.

In the one day workshop girls enjoy lively discussion, fun activities, and hear women's experiences of menarche and growth into womanhood.

Menarche (girls first period) signifies the beginning of a girl’s fertile years and the menstrual cycle is an intrinsic aspect of being a woman for nearly half of her life. For many girls this is a time of embarrassment, anxiety and mixed messages about what it means to be a girl in a maturing female body. However, extensive research has shown that for young girls who experience menarche well prepared, with a positive introduction and emotional support, the result is higher self-esteem, fewer negative cycle related symptoms, favourable overall menstrual perception and easier subsequent births.

By celebrating menarche we give a profound message to girls that this process within her body is
important and valuable, and so is she, as she learns to inhabit and navigate her changing status through her
teenage years.

This event includes two sessions:
Monday October 7th, 730-930pm
An evening session for mothers/female carer of the girls. Attendance is essential to participate in A Celebration Day for Girls.

Saturday October 12th, 10am-4pm
Attended by the girls from 10-1pm and joined by their mother/female carer from 1-4pm.

Price for mother daughter pair for both session - $165 Full (plus booking fee) $125 Concession card holders (plus booking fee)

YOUR BEST WORKOUT • TOGETHER

Kangatraining is a complete workout during which both cardiovascular endurance/flexibility and muscular capacity/strength are enhanced. Unlike traditional exercise classes, new mums need not worry about finding a babysitter or minding an unsettled baby during class because the babies are worn on them and get to be part of the action! As well as the physical benefits, the opportunity to meet other local mums in a fun, relaxed environment boosts their emotional wellbeing.

The pelvic floor and abdominal muscles as well as correct posture are given special attention. Kangatrainers are also trained in babywearing best practices and can help mums ensure the safest and most comfortable carrying positions for their babies.

The name ‘Kangatraining’ comes from ‘Winnie the Poo’ where by the Kanga mother dotes on her playful and energetic baby joey Roo!
Kangatraining Instructors:

As mums of young children themselves, Kangatraining instructors understand that embarking on a post-baby fitness program can be daunting. All instructors are fully certified, having completed a training course in Vienna, first aid certifications, and exams in anatomy, postnatal health, and babywearing safety.
When to start

You can begin Kangatraining once you have been given the “all clear” from your health professional to resume exercising postpartum. This can be anywhere from 6-10 weeks or slightly longer following a caesarean section. Our Kangatrainers will ask you to complete a health questionnaire to highlight any concerns so that they may modify the exercises in the workout for you. To see results sooner it is advised to attend a Kangatraining class once a week and workout with the DVD at home twice a week!
Babywearing Safety

Without a doubt, safety is the number one consideration when using a baby carrier. Many popular carriers, although not posing an immediate threat, are not optimally designed to support the natural development of baby’s hips and spine. Babies should be worn in a carrier that ensures that their legs are supported, in an “M” position with knees splayed out, and facing inward towards the wearer.

You are welcome to bring your carrier that our trainers will assess as to its suitability for the class. We will also assist you in getting the best fit and comfort for you and your baby. There will be demo carriers available at each class to try out or hire on an ongoing basis.

Every Kangatraining instructor works closely with a Babywearing Consultant to ensure correct babywearing practices are met.

So come along and give it a go, you and your baby will love it!
LET’S KANGA!

Benefits of Kangatraining

no need for a babysitter
total body workout
promotes mother and baby bonding
positive outcomes for postnatal depression
social, meeting other like-minded mothers
relaxed and fun environment
creates a support structure
promotes healthy mind and body
promotes safe and healthy baby wearing
