DESCRIPTION: This class focuses on strengthening your core, shoulders and wrists primarily through various types of exercises and the practice of jumping forward, jumping back (as often done in the sun salutation of Ashtanga yoga) and the lifting back (a.k.a. jump back) and jumping through as used in the transition between seated poses of Ashtanga yoga class. You will also learn how to simultaneuously coactivate the muscles to create force and regulate energy (a.k.a. Bandha). We will use props such as yoga blocks to help you access the challenging movements and develop a progressive practice.
Physical advantages: Increase total core and whole upper body strength, improve range of motion of shoulders and hips flexors.
Appropriate level: The class is suitable for practitioners who has good condition of wrists, elbows, shoulders and knees. Some basic knowledge of Ashtanga yoga practice can be beneficial.
