Description
Are you curious about your balance? Perhaps you have known a family member or friend who has fallen? Or better yet, maybe you want a head start on your preventative approach by tuning into your balance systems? It is never to early to begin your balance improvement and maintenance journey.
Healthy balance includes our visual system, vestibular system and proprioceptive (feeling/spatial) systems. Dysfunction in 1 or more of these categories can put us at risk for imbalance and potentially a fall.
Challenging our balance may optimize and tune up our reactionary and anticipatory responses over time. Find the limits of your balance to optimize your balance in a safe and mindful way.
If you experience any of the following, this series is for you:
-an occasional feeling of being unsteady, but not actively falling
-inability to close your eyes and stay steady
-always having to look at the ground to stay steady while walking or moving
-inner ear problems
-hypermobility of your joints (can affect your feeling/spatial abilities)
-sensation limitations
This class is not for you if you:
-have fallen with or without injury within the last 6 months for any reason (warrants an evaluation with a physical therapist or appropriate provider)
-rely on an assistive device (walker, cane, crutches, etc) for mobility or balance
-have any limitation that would make you unsafe performing activities that challenge your balance and stability on your feet
-have a fear of falling
This class is not intended to treat, diagnose or cure any balance impairments or treat those who have fallen/been falling and is not considered a replacement for individualized care by a licensed provider. Please inquire if you are unsure if this class is appropriate for you to participate.
All bodies are welcome to attend.
