Saturdays, January 22nd - February 19th from 9:00-10:15 am
Attend virtually or watch the replay.
In this virtual 5-week series taught by Elizabeth Gust, Doctor of Physical Therapy, you will learn yoga postures to support the wellbeing of your head, neck and shoulders.
Are you curious about ways to support your upper body?
Perhaps you have dealt with intermittent limitations relating to your head, neck, or shoulders?
Or better yet, maybe you want a head start on your preventative approach by tuning into movement mechanics.
A healthy upper body includes joints and tissues that have freedom of movement and support through stability & strength. Dysfunction in our mechanics can lead to aches and pains or simply inefficient movement patterns over time.
Challenging the awareness of our upper body mechanics may optimize and tune up our daily abilities to reach, hold, push and pull, and carry the things in life that bring us joy. Find the limits of your head, neck, and shoulders to optimize your movement in a safe and mindful way.
If you experience any of the following, this series is for you:
a desire to improve your awareness of your upper body
an occasional feeling of limitation in a functional task
inability to discern why you move the way you move
increased or decreased mobility of your joints (can affect your feeling/spatial abilities)
lack of meaningful functional upper body strength and stability
notice yourself straining or holding breath to perform simple or basic tasks with your upper body effort
This class is not for you if:
have an acute injury that requires attention by an healthcare provider (physical therapist, physician, etc).
have a chronic condition that restricts your participation in unsupervised exercise
have any limitation that would make you unsafe performing activities that challenge your upper extremities or spine
have a fear of falling, actively falling or have balance impairments that affect your safety in participation
This class is not intended to treat, diagnose or cure any ailments and is not considered a replacement for individualized care by a licensed provider. Please inquire if you are unsure if this class is appropriate for you to participate.
All bodies and levels of experience welcome to attend.
