About Bloominyoga
Hello and welcome, I'm Rose, a Yoga, Dance and Somatic movement facilitator with over 14 years’ experience of engaging with diverse groups of people across Yorkshire and the UK. I originally trained in Dance at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) and established a career teaching dance in professional, community and education settings across the UK
I began building a regular yoga practise throughout my dance training, and following a trip to Uttarakhand's Himalayas, India in 2015, I planted the seed to expand my teaching practise and certified as a yoga teacher in 2017 after completing my 200hr teacher training in Goa, India.
For me yoga, dance and somatic movement are a way of connecting fully with myself. I use them as an outlet for expression, but also to tune inwards and utilise the postures, sequences and experiences as a moving meditation.
My yoga classes include meditative, flowing vinyasa sequences in which I will invite you to tune into sensations in the body to cultivate a deeper connection to yourself and the present moment. I am passionate about supporting people to experience joy and freedom through movement. My wish is for you to float out of my class with a greater sense of peace and wellbeing in soul, body and mind.
My dance classes are energising, fun and inclusive, open to anyone who loves to experience the joy that dancing can bring. I love music and always have a great playlist to accompany my classes! We focus a little on postural alignment, strength, flexibility, mobility and coordination, but mostly on enjoying moving!
Improving physical health and fitness for me are a byproduct of moving my body to music, connecting to myself and to those in the space dancing with me.
My Somatics classes interweave the teachings of Moshe Feldenkrais, Thomas Hanna and Joan Skinner, of whose work I have had the pleasure of experiencing in various landscapes during and since my dance training. Through my own embodiment of these practises I aim to share the deep and rich benefits that these experiences can offer. Expect gentle movement coupled with imagery and subtle questioing to encourage you to drop into the deeper levels of your physical body, releasing tension, calming and rebalancing the nervous system. This is a very mindful practise and open to all.
As well as my weekly classes I offer private 1:1 and small group sessions. Please contact me for more information.
I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to my classes.
With Love,
Rose x
