Yin and yang yoga is a practice that combines the slow, passive, and deep-stretching nature of Yin yoga with the active, dynamic, and warming qualities of Yang yoga. It seeks to create physical and energetic balance by first building heat and strength in the yang portion, and then moving into long-held, still yin poses to work on connective tissues and promote relaxation. This approach addresses both the active muscles (yang) and the passive connective tissues like ligaments and fascia (yin) for a well-rounded practice that can be both invigorating and calming.
