About Carole Munro Yoga

I am an experienced Yoga Alliance registered teacher with a passion for yoga and keen to share my knowledge with others. I run my own private yoga classes in the local community of Motherwell from my studio and various locations throughout the Motherwell area and I offer 1-2-1 and 1-2-2 private tuition and small group classes.

My home studio is situated in a quiet peaceful location at the edge of the Dalzell Estate which looks on to our large garden with mature trees enhancing your yoga experience. During the Summer we practice yoga in our private garden, a truly unique experience connecting with nature.

I am dedicated to my own daily practice and continually invest a lot of time and energy on my own personal development. I also attend yoga workshops regularly which allows me to help others develop their own yoga practice.

I was introduced to Iyengar yoga in 1980 by the late Sadie Mulvanney who was my yoga teacher for many years before she set up a Holistic Retreat and Spiritual Centre at Lendrick Lodge in Callander with her Guru from India. I attended her weekly classes and yoga workshops and instantly became hooked and took up my own daily practice. I enjoyed the benefits of meditation and pranayama and the feeling of oneness, positivity and clarity of mind. The daily practice of asanas increased my flexibility, created inner strength and endurance and helped me to cope in a stressful world.

Yoga helps me to remain positive when times are tough and has been a useful tool to draw upon when life becomes stressful. It has helped me to remain in the present and continues to help me live a healthy lifestyle today.

During 2004 - 2015 I was a competitive club runner and yoga helped me to stay injury free, whilst maintaining strength and flexibility.

My passion for yoga and my ambition to become a yoga teacher encouraged me to embark on a Teacher Training Course at the "Seasonal Yoga Teacher Training Academy" in Pollockshields with course directors Julie Hanson, Sue Woode, and Marit Akinewe. I was introduced to Seasonal flow yoga by Julie and Sue, and was taught Ashtanga yoga by Cathy Moran, KPJAYI Level 2 authorised yoga teacher, who teaches the traditional method of Ashtanga yoga taught by Sharath Jois, in the Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India. I was very much drawn to the dynamic practice of Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow.

I studied Yoga Anatomy with David Keil and attended his Adjustments Workshop in London in 2016.

In 2019 I studied with Ana Forrest, creator of Forrest Yoga and Senior Forrest yoga teachers, Jumbo Truong.

In April 2019 I completed an additional 50 hours of Yin Yoga to add to my skills and experience. This course has given me more flexibility in my teaching style to reach a diverse range of people and tailor my classes to the individual, taking into account different body types, including modifications to make the practice of yoga accessible for all.

In March 2018, I visited Rishikesh and was greatly inspired by the great teachings of Hatha yoga in India.

As I roll out my mat every morning, I feel privileged that I have the opportunity to share my teaching with others and at the same time help a diverse range of individuals from various backgrounds. My passion for yoga inspires me to share this knowledge and help others to become more flexible; to deal with mental health issues and most of all, to become a happier version of themselves.

My motto is: "You are never too old to learn, flexibility is not a requirement to practice yoga, it's all about the journey, so take the plunge and book a class today and you will never look back".
