Fidel Fontaine
Guided traditional Ashtanga Second Series class, also known as Nadi Sodhana (purification of energy channels). This deep and therapeutic sequence focuses on opening the front of the body, improving spinal mobility, and stimulating the nervous system through extensions, twists, and inversions.
The class will be conducted using traditional vinyasa (Sanskrit) counting, with an emphasis on breathing, focus points (drishti), and the consistent activation of bandhas (energy locks). Throughout the practice, key postures will be addressed, and safe modifications and options will be offered for those new to the Intermediate Series.
The session is designed for practitioners with a solid foundation in the First Series and previous experience in intermediate/advanced Mysore or Rocket-style classes. It is not recommended for absolute beginners.
Main Objectives:
- Stabilize and mobilize the spine.
- Strengthen the connection between breath, focus, and internal structure.
- Stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system through a technical and meditative practice.
- Develop shoulder strength, hip opening, and spinal extension progressively.
Requirements:
Consistent experience with the First Series up to at least Navasana. It is essential to have taken Mysore or Guided First Series classes. In class, priority will be given to rhythm rather than the execution of the postures, especially if you are new to the class.
