About Finding Lacuna, Yoga with Gerard
I'm Gerard. Welcome to my yoga class booking site.
I've been practicing yoga since I arrived in Leicester over 25 years ago. "I'm not very flexible" I said when a neighbour suggested it would be fun, but I gave it a go and the rest has been a very interesting part of my life journey.
Kind-of-retired, I taught for 20 years in special education and spent the second half of my career developing qualifications in the social care and disability sectors.
My life journey has been a series of serendipitous moments and I’ve always been curious and eager to learn. Following a chance conversation, and driven by a simple urge to deepen my own practice, I found myself with the opportunity to spend much of 2025 dedicated to the Yoga Teacher Training programme at Orange Yoga in Cheltenham. This incredible experience led me back to who I am, what I want to contribute and what I value. Now, I want to share my practice with those for whom it resonates.
Whilst what we will do in the practice will feel familiar to some, our focus will be on finding a solid grounding, finding breath and creating space - in our joints, our muscles, our minds, as we move and explore postures together.
What does the name mean? 'Finding Lacuna'. There's a story to share over a coffee, but in short the word 'Lacuna' is Latin for 'Lake'. I love being in the water, and I swim regularly. Water, like yoga, calms and grounds me. But lacuna means so much more than just water. It also means gap or space, and depending on the context it has all sorts of uses. Over time I'll maybe share bits about that in the practice along with references to the trees that you'll see here and on social media.
If you have questions send me a WhatsApp message or voice-note (07898 112 343 ).
