Description
Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative practice that works deeply into the body’s connective tissues—fascia, ligaments, and joints—through long-held, mostly floor-based postures. Shapes are typically held for 3–5 minutes or longer, allowing the muscles to soften so we can gently stress the deeper tissues in a safe, sustainable way.
In traditional Yin theory, poses are designed to stimulate specific energy pathways in the body known as meridians, a concept rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. These meridians correspond to organ systems such as the liver, kidneys, heart, lungs, and stomach. By applying mindful, steady pressure along these lines, we support circulation—both physical and energetic—and encourage balance within the body.
Each season is also associated with certain meridians and emotional qualities. For example:
• Liver & Gallbladder (spring) — growth, direction, frustration
• Heart & Small Intestine (summer) — joy, connection
• Lung & Large Intestine (autumn) — grief, letting go
• Kidney & Bladder (winter) — fear, resilience
This practice is quiet and introspective. We use props generously to support the body, and we emphasize sensation over intensity. Yin Yoga complements more active (yang) movement styles and helps regulate the nervous system, making it especially beneficial in times of stress or transition.
Expect stillness, breath awareness, and space to turn inward.

Don is a highly trained and experienced instructor that has been practicing for 13 years and teaching for 7 years. He holds an E-500 RYT certification with Yoga Alliance and is also a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). He completed his 200 hour training at the Rishikesh Yoga Teacher Training facility in Rishikesh, India and continued his training receiving his 500 hour certification from Matt Giordano’s Chromatic Yoga training program. He furthered his training receiving a certification in Assisted Stretching from ICE. He has a strong background in anatomy, kinesiology, and physiology that allows him to work in depth with people that have fragile bodies or are recovering from injury.
Don’s yoga journey began after suffering for years from repetitive motion injuries he sustained from his previous career in IT and Network Engineering. Years of sitting at computer terminals left him with severe pain in his neck and shoulders as well as carpal tunnel syndrome. Basic movements became nearly impossible and pain was the norm. He decided to try a class in therapeutic yoga for neck and shoulder pain. After one class he noticed a significant release and reduction in pain. After 6 weeks of daily classes the pain in his neck and shoulders had disappeared and he felt alive again. The relief was so profound he became determined to share this practice with the world.

Description
Restorative Yoga is the practice of deep rest. Using props such as bolsters, blankets, and blocks, the body is fully supported in poses of comfort and ease. This allows the nervous system to soften, tension to release, and the body’s natural capacity for healing to emerge. Poses are held for longer periods of time, encouraging profound relaxation, improved well-being, and a sense of nourishment on both physical and subtle levels. This practice is accessible to all and is especially beneficial for stress reduction, recovery, and restoring balance.
