About Let it be Yoga with Jess

Hi my name is Jessie Powell and I am a Yoga Guide, operating in Southern Ontario. I am so happy that you have arrived here, let me tell you a bit about myself and my Yoga journey. I have been loving practicing Yoga since I was 18 years old and first attended a class while working on my BA in Political Science, at the University of Guelph. After experiencing that post Yoga glow and Shavasana high, I've been hooked. I've always loved practicing Yoga and had an itch to do my training to become a Yoga Guide. I also had that nagging voice in my head saying, "you're not flexible or athletic enough," so I pushed those dreams aside.

During the pandemic times in 2020 and 2021, and after having my second child, I found myself really dropping into my Yoga practice and feeling the it really carry me through those heavy times. Yoga helped support my emotional, physical and spiritual health, so I could show up as a calm and centered Mother and partner.

I have always been a very nurturing human being, so naturally I wanted to share the beautiful feelings of relaxation and peace with as many humans as possible. So in the Summer of 2021 I signed up for a 200 hour Basic Yoga Teacher Training, in an Online format with Konalani Yoga Ashram. This Ashram and team of YTT experts is special to me and came highly recommended by my sister in law. This training really gave me a strong foundation as a Yoga Educator. Going into detail on both of the anatomy and spirit of Yoga. Completing my training at the end of August 2021, I applied and was hired to teach Gentle Yoga at my favourite local Yoga studio, The Yoga Barn on Lake Rosalind. No time like the present!

Over the years I've been teaching, I have also continued my Yoga education with 100 more hours of training in Myofascial Release techniques (in-person, in Scotland with Eva Maxine), Restorative Yoga (online with Eva Maxine), Meditation (online with Konalani) and Yoga Nidra (online with My Vinyasa Practice). These areas of specialty are often carefully weaved into my Yoga classes and workshops.

My classes are a guided tour of your own inner experience. I softly encourages you to to modify poses and your own unique edge of flexibility. You will find my classes include props like therapy balls, blankets and blocks, to help support you students and find ease in your practice.

I welcome Yogis of all ages and levels of experience to join her on the mat. My goal is to provide Yoga that is accessible for every BODY.

I am a Mom of two young boys and I also co-own a house framing business with my husband in Durham, Ontario. I enjoy gardening, camping, cooking, playing with my Aussie Shepherd, snowboarding and most of all visiting my mat for my personal Yoga practice.
