These classes are creative and fun, linking breath and movement together improving strength with flexibility while allowing individuals find alignment that works in their bodies. Classes are taught based on themes with backgrounds rooted in either Traditional Chinese Medicine or around the seasonal cycles of the Celtic wheel or around the Myths & Philosophies of the Ancient Indian principles. Weaving in elements from various styles of yoga and other mixed movement practices these classes focus on strengthening, building stamina, stability and bringing balance to the body & mind. Through this powerful connection of body & mind, these classes can help lower stress levels, promote health, flexibility & strength, and a feeling of well-being.
If you are pregnant, have a medical condition or a recent injury, it can be challenging to do certain types of yoga, specific poses, or breathing techniques so we recommended consulting with your doctor before beginning yoga.

Description
Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Michael Cruz studied dance and theatre at Carnegie Mellon University in the United States. He is trained in jazz, multiple latin styles and stage performance.
Dance, if allowed to be, can be a magnificent tool for those looking to be ever more present. Although the traditional approach to meditation relies on the idea that calming the body calms the mind, Michael practices the direct connection between the mind, body and soul through the exploration of rhythm in order to reach a meditative state.
In this class, Michael will first facilitate the individual’s understanding of their own, unique body through stretching, and body part isolations. Then he will conduct several rhythmic exercises as a way of taking the mind out of the structure of rhythm and reaching a state of listening through the body. Finally, the group will make the connection between body movement and rhythm through active spatial explorations.
This class is not only a fun workout to latin music but also an opportunity to be fully present with others. Since Michael’s approach is not to teach the perfecting of any particular dance technique, the class is open to people of all skill levels.
The main goal of the class is to DANCE LIKE NOBODY’S WATCHING!

Description
Yin Yoga combines the physical with the mental and is designed to calm a busy mind. It's a meditative practice where you just surrender to stillness and allow your body to soften and be supported by cushions and blankets on the floor, where you consciously let go of the mind chatter and the inner critic. This class is all levels and suitable for complete beginners.
Yin yoga is one of the best practises you can do to improve flexibility & restore range of motion in your joints and it is the style of yoga that helps us to really wind down and tune inwards as we settle into postures for a few minutes at a time.
Holding postures for a few minutes at a time can be surprisingly challenging. It's confronting and it challenges you slow down and to let go. Sometimes it feels boring, sometimes uncomfortable, other times blissful and then....little by little this hour of self care helps you develop flexibility and inner strength leaving you feeling balanced both physically and energetically.

Description
Lead by guest teachers
A mindfulness class incorporating gentle movement, breathing techniques and guided meditation to help calm the mind, reduce anxiety and feel more at ease in life. We incorporate a variety of styles and meditation techniques each week using mantra, mudra, gentle movement, poetry, visualisation, yoga nidra and relaxation.
The intention of meditation practices is to develop clarity and to cultivate a quieter and more peaceful state of mind. In addition to helping us find calmness, these meditations also help improve feelings of well-being, happiness, and connection. Meditating is not all about stilling the mind and many people struggle with this concept. This is the biggest reason people think they can never enjoy the benefits of meditation. We will help you overcome this by breaking down these meditations into more manageable segments to help you begin to have a more enjoyable practice.
We arrive for practice in a quiet way and get settled in our seats. There will be time after class to discuss the meditation or to ask questions. Meditation props are provided however you may want to bring a blanket and wear cosy socks. These community classes are *free of charge and will be led by Niamh, Liam and guest teachers. *donations are welcome on the day which will go towards our local Saltmills & St.Kearns Community Group for community projects.
“When we bring our mind into our body, the body becomes mindful, and the mind becomes embodied” - Donna Farhi
As numbers are limited, please ensure that if you can't take the class you cancel your place ASAP to allow someone else the opportunity to take it.

Description
Self body reading & myofacial release techniques. A workshop with Niamh.
To understand myofascial release, we must first understand fascia. In this workshop we will talk about this complex matrix of fascia which weaves itself throughout our body, surrounding our muscles, organs, nerves, bones, blood vessels and even our cells.
When one spot in our bodies gets knotted from injury, trauma or bad movement patterns it can affect other areas in the body which is why when we have pain in our knee it may have nothing to do with a knee injury but maybe due to a niggle in our lower back or even our shoulder. So self myofascial release techniques (MFR) are designed to go in and smooth out those hard knots using objects such as balls, blocks and other props to iron out these stuck areas returning the fascia to its normal fluid and adaptable self.
We will go through some of the Anatomy Trains and learn about the interconnections of the body by scanning and observing your own body using meditation, breathwork and feeling for your own physical ranges of motion. Then we explore each line using self-massage techniques based around the latest in fascia research to release stuck areas amd improve range of motion creating more freedom of movement in your body.
I have studied with the worlds best experts in this field and can't wait to share these techniques with you. This is a 2 1/2 hour workshop and you will take home a handout with information and techniques used in class that you can continue at home. I'll have some balls for sale on the day too.
