About Moku

Welcome to MOKU.
Nestled in Westward Ho!, MOKU is a strictly 10-mat, barefoot yoga and movement sanctuary built quite literally by hand (fueled by a fair amount of plaster dust and a very stubborn vision).

The Practise
At our core, we are a dedicated yoga and holistic movement studio. Our schedule is designed around practises that ground you, challenge you, and regulate your nervous system. Whether you are stepping onto the mat for a fluid Vinyasa flow, a classic Hatha practice, a deep-rest Yin session, exploring Shake the Dust, meditation, or sound baths, this space is built for the work.

The Space & The Materials
There is a beautiful time and place for large, bustling community spaces, but MOKU was deliberately designed to be the exact opposite. We have created a warm, highly intimate environment. It isn't a sprawling hall; it is a cosy, low-lit sanctuary where proximity turns into a shared, collective energy. This is where you drop the noise of the outside world at the door.

Because grounding is at the heart of what we do, the physical space reflects that. I have made a deliberate effort to source the best materials for our practice and the planet. You will be moving on solid wood flooring, and every mat provided is made from natural, renewable tree rubber that is entirely biodegradable and recyclable. I wanted the room to breathe just as much as we do.

The Philosophy
I built MOKU with a very specific, slightly rebellious goal: to create a studio that nourishes the teachers exactly as much as it nourishes our community.

Exceptional practitioners often find themselves spread incredibly thin, trying to crowd-control massive rooms. I wanted to build a home where they actually get to teach. With our strict 10-mat cap, our teachers can offer bespoke, hands-on guidance, while our students receive the absolute focus, attention, and dedicated quiet time they deserve.

This isn't just a room to unroll a mat for an hour. It is a carefully curated environment for both the teacher and the practitioner to genuinely thrive.

Leave your shoes in the cubbies. Find your natural mat. Let’s do the work. 🌿
