Join Jennifer Brouillard of Roots to Fly Wellness for this moderately paced Vinyasa flow yoga class focused on breath work, strengthening, and stretching. Knowledge of the yoga poses is needed for this class as we will move a bit quicker than my gentle yoga classes, but lots of modifications are still given to meet my yogis at their various levels of practice. Come connect with your breath, find your center, meet yourself at your edge, and tune into your body and your intuition. Come as you are, take what you need, rest when you need to (it's ok to say no to a pose and rest in child), and release what no longer serves you. I will always remind you to do what is best for you and to listen to your body. Remember, what you do to bring peace to your inner being helps to bring peace to the world.

Yin yoga is a stretching focused class done with a cool body. Poses are held for 2-5 mins and are all low to the ground. Poses are all offered with a modification to make each pose more restorative if that is what your body is calling for at that moment. In Yin we compress the ligaments and joints with long holds and breath work to help the fascia to open. Rebound restorative poses will be added in to allow space for cellular healing and hydration. Yin works into the fascia and aids in joint mobility, flexibility and balance. The compression (the holding of the stretch) starves the joint of fluid while stretching the fascia around the joint capsule. When compression is released the joint capsule is freed, but the fascia remains slightly stretched and more open. Fluid, nutrients, and oxygen rushes back to the joint capsule and this flood of hydration is felt in the body as the rebound. Along with this more tangible shift Yin also helps to calm the nervous system (taking you back into Rest and Restore) and clear the energy channels (meridians) of the body through the fascia. This will be a 45-50 min practice with soft, instrumental music playing in the background though class. We will close with a 25 min yoga nidra meditation each week.

The practice of yoga nidra is a practice of yogic sleep that will guide you to a state of consciousness between wakefulness and sleeping. It offers you space to diffuse your triggers around past traumatic events without making you relive them. It gives your mind and body rest and restoration while tapping into your consciousness to help to rewrite the script running in your head. It is a way to drop your cortisol levels and bring optimum function back to your endocrine system. It helps you cultivate a deeper and more embodied mind, body, heart, spirit and soul connection.

The focus is to stretch your body, replenish your energy, nurture your mind, release the things that are no longer serving you and recalibrate your focus. Take the Yin pose or the more restorative modification depending on your energetic and physical needs at the time. Enjoy the peace that comes from listening to your body and meeting it where it is at, not where you wish it were.

It is time to start making time for your wellness because you can't pour from an empty cup. This supportive and nurturing kind of yoga helps us to get out of our frenetic day-to-day life within our sympathetic nervous system of "fight or flight" and brings us back into our in parasympathetic nervous system in charge of our "rest and restore" functions.

Restorative Yoga is a yoga style that uses props to fully support you within each pose. We will be resting, breathing and releasing into 5 poses for 10 mins each. Through the aid of the props supporting you and breath-work, Restorative Yoga can offer you a deeper release with your body as well as your mind because you are not holding anything. You may be surprised just how much stretching happens when you are fully supported and able to relax deeper into each of these poses. Each person will receive 4 mins of Reiki during the session.

We will end with a guided meditation to find your power word focus for 2025. The words we use hold so much power because of the intention we set behind them. The power within us gives life, purpose, and meaning behind the words we use. I'm turn words have the power to shape our lives. Instead of setting lots of resolutions the idea of a power word is a word that will carry you through the year. It has power because it has your focused desire. And the things that you fill your heart with and focus your mind on tend to be the things you see more of in your life. Through this word you can set deeper intentions and small attainable goals each step of your journey in 2025.
