Description
Join Jenn Brouillard of Roots to Fly Wellness for a Yin Yoga class with optional Restorative Yoga pose modifications. Yin yoga is a deep stretching focused class done with a cool body. Poses are held for 2 minutes and are all low to the ground (seated, laying on back, side or belly, or on knees) Most poses that are offered offered will have an optional modification to make each pose more restorative if that is what your body is calling for at that moment. In Yin we compress the ligaments and joints with long holds and breath work to help the fascia to open. Yin works into the fascia and aids in joint mobility, flexibility and balance. The compression (the holding of the stretch at it's edge) starves the joint of fluid while stretching the fascia around the joint capsule. When compression is released the joint capsule is freed, but the fascia remains slightly stretched and more open. Fluid, nutrients, and oxygen rushes back to the joint capsule and this flood of hydration is felt in the body as the rebound. Along with this more tangible shift Yin also helps to calm the nervous system (taking your nervous system back into Rest and Restore) and clear the energy channels (meridians) of the body through the fascia.
Flow of class: We will begin with a centering meditation with a focus on getting into the body and breath. We will move through the poses with soft, instrumental music playing in the background throughout class. We will close with a 2 minute body scan with sound bowls and a 5 minute savasana each week.
The focus of this class is to stretch your body, replenish your energy, nurture your mind, release the things that are no longer serving your journey into your soulful self and recalibrate your focus. Take the Yin pose or the more restorative modification depending on your energetic and physical needs at the time. Enjoy the peace that comes from listening to your body and meeting it where it is at, not where you wish it were. Remember what you do to bring peace to yourself, brings more peace to the world. You matter!

An open mind and open heart. All supplies are available to borrow at the studio.
Please arrive no more than 10 minutes early to allow time for the previous class to leave and for me to set up.
Cost: Class is $15 or a 6 class card can be purchased for $80 or a 10 class card is $120. Cash, check, or Venmo are preferred. Credit card processing online is an option for your convenience.
