*Opening and Strengthening the Front Body*

This class focuses on opening and strengthening the front side of our body. Combining mindful movement with breath, we will flow slowly through a sequence that targets the ‘anterior chain’—the chain of muscles running down the front body, including the chest muscles, abdominal muscles, hip flexors, and quadriceps.

We will gently engage all of these areas, while giving special attention to releasing (i) the chest and shoulder region, and (ii) the hip flexors—two places where it’s common to feel tightness or weakness owing to long periods of sitting and unideal posture. The class will also involve an accessible core sequence. Not only will this strengthen the belly muscles, activating the core also stabilizes the spine and pelvis, providing your whole body with better support.

This class can be taken separately, or combined with a second class on 24 July, where we will work on the back body.
