Description
Introducing the chakra series, a seven week special. During these classes we will be flowing in a yang (active) and a yin (passive) way through the body each week with the focus on each of the chakras.
The Sanskrit word chakra translates to a wheel or disk. In yoga and meditation, this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. There are seven chakras that align along the spine, starting from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.
Chakras are a spinning vortex of energy that is not seen by the human eye but can be felt and sensed intuitively. This invisible healing energy Prana that flows through the chakras is a vital life force which keeps us vibrant, healthy and alive.
When a body is balanced, energy flows freely and can be energising, revitalising, and peaceful. There are unique and specific ways to balance each chakra, including practices for increasing the energy of a chakra when it is too low, and practices for calming the energy of a chakra when it is too high.
In each class we will focus on manipulating the flow of subtle energy through chakras to bring ourselves back to balance.
This class we will be focusing on the second chakra, the sacral charka. It is located in our pelvis between the hips and around the sacrum. This charka is associated with our center of creativity, creation, emotions and feelings . Throughout this class we will do poses and practices that stretch, strengthen, open and release tension in our hips, lower back and lower belly.
