Shannon Pearson

Shannon was born and raised in Tuscaloosa. She is a mom of five, a bookkeeper, a group fitness instructor, a yogi, and now a business owner! Shannon is passionate about health & wellness and how it can positively affect one’s physical & emotional well being. She started her fitness career in 1993 teaching step aerobics. Since then, Shannon has completed multiple group fitness certifications and recently completed a 200HR yoga training. She has shared the joy of yoga with people of all ages & abilities and is especially interested in teaching student athletes how yoga can benefit them. Currently, Shannon is introducing yoga to her son's high school basketball team and teaching classes at NorthRidge Fitness. Her teaching style is a true extension of herself...…she goes with the flow. Shannon believes yoga is for everyone and her vision is to help others find a healthy balance in their practice to bring peace, health and happiness to their life. Off the mat, Shannon enjoys spending time with family, watching her kids play sports, and exploring Pinterest for new adventures.

Description

Core focused flow. Build a strong and stable core while leaving the mind centered and calm. Using simple movements synced to your breath, students will tone the belly, heal the back, and find stability in their body. All skill levels. Class is 60 minutes

Monica Pettus, co-owner of Studio Seven6 Yoga became certified to teach pilates in 2009 and then in 2010 began working on her 200 RYT through Yoga Fit. In 2022 she did a second 200hr RYT through Yoga Renew. Monica has over 4000 hours of teaching experience in yoga and pilates at Studio Seven6 Yoga, Northridge Fitness, the former Yoga Bliss, University of Alabama Athletics, University of Alabama School of Business, and various high school athletics in the Northport and Tuscaloosa. Monica has worked with all sorts of athletes with mobility, functional movement, and recovery, including University of Alabama women’s basketball, men’s basketball, men’s golf, women’s volleyball, and women’s gymnastics. She had also worked with swimmers, runner’s, tennis players, cyclists, football, and baseball players. Monica loves to teach a vinyasa flow working towards a peak pose at the end as well as athletic stretch, and yoga skills.

Description

This fun class combines 30 minutes of Pilates and 30 minutes of vinyasa flow. Strength and stretch all in one class! All levels and 60 minutes

In this 45 minute class the instructor will stretch the entire body with an emphasis on what all athletes need; hips, hamstrings, and back. This class is appropriate for all ages as well as athletic levels. No matter your sport, this class will help you with injury prevention, pain prevention, and functional movement. This class could also be used as a recovery.

Terry has been practicing and teaching yoga for over 20 years. He was trained Baptiste style in Boulder, CO. Terry also has a massage therapy background and offers hands on adjustments if wanted and needed. Terry’s class will will focus on connecting the mind and body together.

Description

This Tuesday morning vinyasa flow combines energy, movement, and breath. This class is perfect for beginners all the way to advanced students with options for all skill levels. Class is 60 minutes

Dianne Mancus

Dianne Sirna Mancus, a retired elementary school teacher, school principal, reading specialist, university professor and university administrator, has practiced yoga for more than 50 years. Her yoga teacher training took place at Yoga Haven in Westchester, New York, 200 hours, at New York City Prenatal Yoga Center in Charlotte, N.C., 85 hours, at Vastu School of Yoga in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, 300 hours, and at Vastu School of Yoga in Tuscaloosa, AL, 200 hours. She holds Registered Yoga Teacher 500 and Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher credentials with Yoga Alliance. Dianne is certified by Ashanti Ashram, Amsterdam, Netherlands, in Yoga Nidra, 50 hours, and Yin Yoga, 50 hours. Dr. Mancus authored the successful Maha Shanti Yoga School “Registered Yoga School Application” to Yoga Alliance. She has entered more than 800 hours of teaching hours with Yoga Alliance since 2016. A mother of three and grandmother of three, Dianne has lived in Tuscaloosa since 2016. She has taught at Yoga Bliss, University of Alabama School of Social Work, University of Alabama School of Nursing, and Lifeline Solutions, LLC.

Description

This class increases strength, flexibility, and balance with gentle yoga postures. Allow the breath to bring calm to your life. Enjoy deep relaxation/rest in restorative poses. Modifications to meet individual needs.

For over 20 years, Alison has had a true passion for the fitness and health industry after a health challenge in her 20s. She begin practicing yoga reluctantly because it was not her thing, but noticed how much better she felt and realized she wanted to share that with others. She strives to teach in a way that provides access to all ages and levels of abilities, creates thought and meaning and lends challenges, both physically and mentally. Alison loves a great playlist to flow to! When not teaching, she is an enthusiastic participant for different genres of fitness classes, and hangs out with her husband and pup.

Description

This amazing class is a slow flow, midweek break, to get you over the hump and to the weekend! Flow between poses with longer holds and core and strength work built in.

In this 45 minute class the instructor will stretch the entire body with an emphasis on what all athletes need; hips, hamstrings, and back. The instructor will also use various pieces of equipment to recover the body including bolsters, foam rollers, and bands.
This class is appropriate for all ages as well as athletic levels. No matter your sport, this class will help you with injury prevention, pain prevention, and functional movement.

This vinyasas flow class is guaranteed to start your weekend off right. Get ready to link breath and movement. Work hard then enjoy savasana at the end. This class is for all levels beginner to expert and will offer modifications when needed.

This 75 minute vinyasa style class will surely be a treat to your Sunday afternoon. After being led through Sun Salutations A and B, you will enjoy moving and holding deeper stretches. You will practice balance and the inversion of your choice then finish class with a final resting pose. The perfect combination of work and rest. Come early to grab your spot!
75 minutes and heated to 80 degrees
