Description
The Sanskrit word ‘Adhara’ means foundation, base, and support. The Siddha Yoga Tradition, one of the most ancient, albeit lesser known, traditions of Yoga, teaches about the sixteen (shodasha) vital bases of Energy in our body. Each one of these sixteen bases of Energy has its location, focal point, Chakra (Energy vortex), Padma (purified Chakra), Tattva (Energy Principle), Mantra (Energy Vibration) and Bindu (Point of Infinitude). Seven of these Adharas are mentioned in other Yogic traditions such as Hatha Yoga, as Chakras, which are quite popular among modern Yoga practitioners. However, mastery over all the sixteen Adharas along with their details is considered as vital in the Siddha Yoga tradition. So much so that, some ancient yogic texts declare that a Yogi who doesn’t know the sixteen Adharas is a Yogi merely in name.
In this workshop, Ram Vakkalanka is going to share the ancient wisdom about the sixteen Adharas. He will share a little about the ancient Siddha Yoga tradition, the source of this wisdom. Then, he will dive into the sixteen Adharas…their location, focal point and the techniques of meditating on them. The workshop involves simple yoga postures, Pranayama and guided meditations. Please dress comfortably.
