Ram Vakkalanka
Description
Come join this unique Nada Yoga offering with Ram Vakkalanka at the Vichara Yoga Shala...
There is something sacred inside each one of us that vibrates in perfect harmony with the Universe. However, the cacophony of our thoughts prevents us from enjoying this inner harmony. Nada Yoga teaches us how to rise above this noise, go deeper into our hearts and discover the inexhaustible source of inner peace and strength there. Nada Yoga is a wonderful confluence of the art of music and the science of Yoga, Mudras, Ayurveda, and Vedic Astrology. Nada Yoga envisages Music as a means of Enlightenment by exploring the energetic aspect of Music.
In this workshop, Ram Vakkalanka will present the spiritual recognition of music, and explain the relationship between music and the energetic aspects of our mind-body system. Ram presents music from a unique perspective and its soothing quality truly enthralls the audience. In Ram's hands, the musical notes become Mantras and create a vibrant, energetic, and peaceful ambiance.
This workshop involves intermittent guided meditation to the accompaniment of live Sitar music. Please dress comfortably.
$40 per person.

Ram Vakkalanka
Description
Mudra is defined as that which enhances positive vibrations and reduces negative Karma. It is often explained as “sealing or locking in”. Mudras are often simplistically viewed as hand gestures but in reality, they involve lot more than intertwining the fingers in interesting ways. Even though Mudras are generally considered as of Tantric origin, they form an integral part of Yogic paths of spirituality such as Hatha Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga as well as non-Yogic paths such as Buddhism. Mudras are performed with different limbs of the body and their essential purpose is to focus the mind, generate and direct the inner energies towards a particular objective.
Accessing our unlimited inner power through the right application of Mudra can be learnt. Mudras – simple to complex – facilitate healing and meditation. Given their positive energetic effect on the body, mind and consciousness, Mudras are highly transformative. Mudras can flow into one another or be sustained to direct the flow of Prana for health, concentration and deeper spiritual awareness.
In this in-depth workshop Ram Vakkalanka will share the science and art of Mudras. There are hundreds of Mudras in different traditions, spread over many ancient texts. Under the expert guidance of Ram, we will explore the basics of Mudras, learn some simple exercises that facilitate the Mudra practice, learn Mudras for directing the different energies within us, Meditation, general health as well as specific issues.
This workshop involves intermittent meditation. So, please wear comfortable clothes, have your yoga mat or favourite meditation cushion with you and maintain a distraction-free environment for yourself as well as other participants.

SHODASHA ADHARAS - the Sixteen Points of Energy
SHODASHA ADHARAS - the Sixteen Points of Energy
October 23, 2022 •
3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Ram Vakkalanka
Description
The Sanskrit word ‘Adhara’ means foundation, base, and support. The Siddha Yoga Tradition, one of the most ancient, albeit lesser known, traditions of Yoga, teaches about the sixteen (shodasha) vital bases of Energy in our body. Each one of these sixteen bases of Energy has its location, focal point, Chakra (Energy vortex), Padma (purified Chakra), Tattva (Energy Principle), Mantra (Energy Vibration) and Bindu (Point of Infinitude). Seven of these Adharas are mentioned in other Yogic traditions such as Hatha Yoga, as Chakras, which are quite popular among modern Yoga practitioners. However, mastery over all the sixteen Adharas along with their details is considered as vital in the Siddha Yoga tradition. So much so that, some ancient yogic texts declare that a Yogi who doesn’t know the sixteen Adharas is a Yogi merely in name.
In this workshop, Ram Vakkalanka is going to share the ancient wisdom about the sixteen Adharas. He will share a little about the ancient Siddha Yoga tradition, the source of this wisdom. Then, he will dive into the sixteen Adharas…their location, focal point and the techniques of meditating on them. The workshop involves simple yoga postures, Pranayama and guided meditations. Please dress comfortably.
