Opening up to curiosity

What keeps me geeking out and practicing yoga is my fascination and curiosity with the body and mind, every time venturing on the mat is an opportunity to unlock, discover and feel something new.

Here is your invitation to stay open to the wonders of the body and mind…

Something magical happens when we step into wonder and begin to get curious about our bodies, not just in a surface way, but deeply, with presence and care.

Often we get drawn to our body because of dis-ease or discomfort and seek to resolve the issue of that specific place, I’ve been there and done that a lot!

A sore shoulder, a tight hip, a stiff lower back. But what if the body is inviting us to look beyond the obvious?

What if your right shoulder pain is actually asking for attention in your left hip?

What if the tension in your jaw is connected to the way you’re holding in your belly or pelvic tissue?

What if what feels “tight” is actually what’s overworking to compensate for something else?

The body is not made up of isolated parts, it’s one beautifully intelligent, interconnected web.

This is where curiosity becomes a powerful tool.

In yoga and movement practice, this might look like softening or deepening the breath while exploring a posture, it maybe only going into the pose where you feel the very first effect of the stretch or noticing how easing tension in the jaw brings release in the hips. Or even how engaging the feet can create more freedom through the spine.

Curiosity brings presence and with it wonder. It teaches us to relate to our bodies not as problems to be solved, but as intelligent systems always working together toward balance.

Personally, I’ve found that the more I stay curious the more my body reveals. And I often find relief in the most unexpected places.

So this week, consider approaching your body and world with gentle curiosity.

Be open to surprises.

The body holds so much wisdom, sometimes we just need to slow down and listen.
