Diana De Piñeres
Diana has been honing her yoga teaching craft since 2003. She first trained to teach under the tutelage of Advaita Vedanta and Vinyasa teacher Sri Louise. She is an Ayurvedic Practitioner Graduate of Mount Madonna College of Ayurveda class of 2009, and she teaches seasonal diet and lifestyle classes, and leads Ayurvedic detoxification cleanse programs. She is also, since 2015, a dedicated student of the teachings of the late BKS Iyengar and Iyengar Yoga. Diana is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher and currently studies with Senior Iyengar Yoga mentor Holly Walck Kostura. Yoga and Ayurveda have been essential in Diana’s growth and evolution as a human being. Iyengar yoga has helped her overcome 15 years of chronic back pain and SI joint issues. Yoga & Ayurveda have nourished her with holistic awareness, strength, resiliency, and freedom. Her other loves are her surfing family, 4 pets, Colombian music, kirtan singing, Maui streams, and the preciousness and potentiality of humanity and life.
Description
“The primary aim of yoga is to restore the mind to simplicity and peace, and free it from confusion and distress.” BKS Iyengar
Restorative yoga releases the mind-body tension and brings the nearly 45 miles of the nervous system pathways into a state of calm. Using supportive props to drape the body and drop into the moment, this class bestows time and space to unwind and allows gravity to supply its nourishing power.
Each class leads to the practice of pranayama. BKS Iyengar said, “Pranayama is to yoga as the heart is to the human body.” Prana means energy or life force, and pranayama is the channeling of energy within the body. You will be guided in conscious breathing methods to control the breath, slow it down and lengthen it so as to exhilarate the mind-body and expand your consciousness.
