Description
Welcome the new season with a mindfully crafted Yin Yoga + Yoga Nidra practice to transition into Autumn.
The Autumn Equinox is approaching, one of only two days in the year that our length of night and day are in balance.
With that fluctuation throughout the year, nature reminds us that finding balance is dynamic process, not static occurrence. Change is constant, our lives continually in flux. Our practice is a process of respecting that evolving energy, and connecting to what your mind and body may need any particular day to move towards harmony.
What we needed in the warm but relaxed days of summer may change as we move to the equinox, and the cooler, more structured season of Autumn.
Yin Yoga is an approach to practice that targets the dense connective tissue in our body, and helps to restore and maintain the range of motion in our joints. Floor postures are passively held for longer periods of time with a moderate level of sensation. Yin is a fantastic complement to dynamic activities and active lifestyles. The stillness of Yin practice helps to balance our energy and can invite meditative reflection.
Flowing on from our Yin Yoga practise you will be gently guided through a short and deeply restorative Yoga Nidra practice to help offer you insight into your relationship with rest, relaxation and the innermost recesses of your consciousness.
To conclude our bliss session, there will be custom made organic teas which have been curated with love especially for this event (by The Tea Garden) and delicious raw treats (by Simp-Leigh Raw) to enjoy while we create a little time and space for sharing and chats.
What is Yin Yoga?
Yin is a quiet, meditative practice and will work wonders for the hips and lower body. Yin is magical for building lasting flexibility, improving range of motion, strengthening joints, calming the nervous system and reducing stress and anxiety.
Expect a sweet series of long held floor poses (3-5 minutes) designed to completely relax the muscles to work deep into the layers of fascia (connective tissue) in the body.
We will use props throughout our practice (bolsters / blankets / blocks) to ensure that we can fully connect with our three Principles of Yin:
-Finding our edge
-Being still
-Holding the pose
Yin gives you the time to balance the opposites and stimulate the flow of Qi (vital energy) throughout, allowing you to get to know yourself, tune in and let go.
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra (also known as Yogic Sleep) is one of the deepest of all meditations. Yoga Nidra is a beautiful and nurturing way to reduce stress and will promote a deep rest and relaxation. When practiced right, Yoga Nidra can be as restorative as sleep, while remaining fully conscious.
You will be gently guided through stages of body scan and breath awareness to a state of complete relaxation, stillness and insight. Yoga Nidra is a great way to reduce stress and calm the nervous system.
What shall I bring?
A cushion for behind your head if you wish + anything else to make your nest comfortable, bring your drink bottle and wear warm layers. Mats, bolsters, blocks and blankets are provided and please feel free to bring your own.
Spaces are limited and bookings are essential.
