About Yoga Nutt

Yoga has been part of my life for two decades, and it’s been my privilege to teach for more than twelve years. I first stumbled into yoga while working at Actor’s Theatre of Louisville—when life felt dramatic both on and off stage. Even in those early, chaotic days, yoga offered a glimpse of clarity, a thread of light through the fog. When I eventually landed in Brooklyn in 2005, that spark became a steady flame, and my practice began to take root.

Yoga didn’t change my life overnight—it changed how I live my life. Through abhyasa and vairagya, practice and non-attachment, yoga teaches that transformation happens quietly, through consistent effort and a willingness to let go of results. It’s not magic, but it is mysterious. Over time, the layers unfold, and what begins as movement becomes insight. My hope is that everyone who practices discovers that same unfolding—an ever-deepening sense of steadiness, curiosity, and ease.

My Iyengar training began on the East Coast with the luminous Carrie Owerko, whose playful intelligence and background in dance continue to inspire me. Later, in Los Angeles, I studied with Marla Apt and Anna Delury—two extraordinary teachers whose wisdom shaped both my practice and the way I share it. I’m a graduate of the Southern California Iyengar Teacher Training Program and a Level 2 Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher, endlessly grateful to the lineage that keeps teaching all of us how to see more clearly.
