Ellen Bertrand
Ellen is an experienced yoga teacher whose mission is simple: offer classes, workshops and retreats that leave students feeling better and more in tune with themselves. Ellen has been teaching yoga since 2007 and holds an E-RYT 200 and YACEP designations with Yoga Alliance. Ellen completed her 200-hour Hatha & Power Yoga teacher training at Mountaingoat Yoga, and has continued her learning with specialized yoga and fitness training in anatomy, class design, functional strength training, older adult fitness, meditation, trauma-informed yoga, philosophy and ethics, yin yoga and restorative yoga, to name a few. She is nearing completion of her 500-hour level yoga teacher training with PranaShanti Yoga. Ellen offers hatha, flow, power, yin, meditation, yoga nidra, and restorative yoga classes. Her teaching style is inspired by over 20 years of practice and training, an appreciation of the mind-body connection and the reward of serving her students. Ellen’s classes are well structured and creative. She offers clear instruction and many options so that your practice is truly your own.

Description

Yin postures are primarily about release. They are passive in nature and held anywhere from one to five minutes to target the body’s connective tissues. This practice focuses on stilling the body for a gentle, sustained sensation rather than a deep stretch. This stillness, combined with gentle movement and breathwork, calms the mind and settles the nervous system. Helpful props to bring include: yoga bolster (or cushions/pillows/rolled up blanket); 1-2 blankets; yoga blocks (or sturdy books); and a yoga strap (or tie or scarf).

Preference is for full-series registration. Book using the specific 6-week series pass. Drop-in bookings ($15/class) may be possible if space permits.

Keeping Each Other Covid Safe
As of September 22, Ontario residents will need to show proof of full vaccination (having received two doses at least 14 days before entry) along with photo ID in order to access the facility. If you are a signing up for the full series, this will be verified and documented on September 22 for session #1, and at the first class of session #2. Participants will also be actively screened prior to entry. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before class to accommodate this verification. Verification of vaccination status will move to the province's Vaccination Passport as it is rolled out.

Please wear a mask until you step onto your yoga mat. You can practice without a mask!
