Maureen Mark
Throughout her life, Maureen has sought balance between work and other life stresses through fitness.
Over the years, she has played a variety of sports, and followed various popular modalities for fitness, e.g., running, swimming, aerobics, before finding yoga in 2009. Maureen explored yoga, from videos and classes before deciding to focus on Ashtanga, yin, and myofascial release techniques. Maureen completed her 200-hour teacher training in 2014, and followed that in 2015 with a certification in Yoga Tune Up®. Maureen is a continuous learner and brings new material to classes as she picks them up from classes with other teachers, workshops, and new certifications. Maureen’s classes focus on improving mobility on the mat and enhancing everyday activities.
Description
A new 90-minute format to dive deep into your body and rest!
Yin postures are primarily about release. They are passive in nature and held anywhere from one to five minutes to target the body’s connective tissues. This practice focuses on stilling the body for a gentle, sustained sensation rather than a deep stretch. This stillness, combined with gentle movement and breathwork, calms the mind, settles the nervous system and promotes improved mobility. Restorative Yoga is focused on... rest. You will settle in postures with props fully supporting the body so you can truly let go. Props provided at the studio but feel free to bring your own (e.g. bolsters; blankets; yoga blocks).
