Description
Yin postures are primarily about release. They are passive in nature and held anywhere from one to five minutes to target the body’s connective tissues. This practice focuses on stilling the body for a gentle, sustained sensation rather than a deep stretch. This stillness, combined with gentle movement and breathwork, calms the mind and settles the nervous system. Helpful props to bring include: yoga bolster (or cushions/pillows/rolled up blanket); 1-2 blankets; yoga blocks (or sturdy books); and a yoga strap (or tie or scarf).
Preference is for full-series registration. Book using the specific 6-week series pass. Drop-in bookings ($15/class) may be possible if space permits.

Description
In Sanskrit, "Kāla" means "time" and this class is all about making time for calm -- calm body, calm breath, calm mind. We will use a variety of techniques such as gentle movement, breath work, simple meditations, and guided relaxation or yoga nidra (yogic sleep). Every class will be a bit different and focus on a theme to guide our intentions. Absolutely no yoga experience required.
You will need:
- a quiet, softly lit and comfortable space
- something comfortable for sitting (e.g. yoga mat; arm chair or other chair; meditation or other firm cushion; bolster)
- a comfortable place to lie down (e.g. yoga mat; towel or blanket spread on a carpet); and
- a blanket and anything else you'd like for warmth and comfort (e.g. towel to cover the eyes; eye pillow; cushion or bolster to support the knees).
We may occasionally do a few, gentle standing movements.
