In Chinese Traditional Medicine Theory, there are five natural elements that exist within us, as they do in nature. Each season belongs to a particular element and has unique correspondences. When we study nature’s patterns and cycles, we can learn how to support our own health and stay well year-round.
Summer has drawn to a close, and as we watch the leaves falling from the trees and the weather becoming cooler we might find ourselves turning inward and becoming more reflective. We are approaching the end of a cycle that will finish and rest in the depths of winter, before a new cycle takes root once again in spring. Autumn is the time of the Metal Element, and just as Metal receives its support from the Earth Element, it in turn provides nourishment to Water; the time of winter. We need Metal energy to help lead and direct our energy gracefully into winter and the Water phase of the year. Metal energy, like the season it represents, is a time for detoxification and letting go, along with the movement of energy towards Yin and rest. In Chinese traditional medicine, Metal energy manifests in the Lungs and Large intestine. The Lungs respiration and the Large Intestines elimination function play an important part in the purifying role of this element. During this workshop we will nourish Metal, the Lung and Large Intestine by practicing Qi Gong and Yin Yoga from a traditional Chinese perspective.
The workshop will be taught by Giulia Ortu and Fiona Straathof.
