About Yoga with Ylva
After teaching 10-20 weekly classes for over 10 years now, it is becoming increasingly difficult to put into words what yoga is to me, as it is such an integral part of who I am.
The way that yoga combines movement, breathing, stillness and mindfulness makes it one of the best things we can do with our time.
The main thing yoga has given me; is the realisation that life becomes much more enjoyable if you stop to enjoy it sometimes.
I want to share the joy I’ve found in moving with intention, being aware of both our internal and external world. Guiding you through classes designed with purpose. I am endlessly fascinated with the body and specialise in anatomy and how the body works. I weave this into all classes, I share not just how to move the body, but why, and what happens when we do, from the way the blood flows through our muscles to how our nervous system and hormones react and affect us short- and long term. From how to best keep ourselves healthy and able for as long as possible to how to offset the effect that daily life has on both body and mind.
My classes tend to have a slower pace to give enough time for me to explain why we are doing something, and enough time for you to feel and understand it. This gentle exploration of the body will leave you with the knowledge of how to take healthy movement off the mat and into your everyday life, where it will have the biggest effect.
