6 Ways Yoga
Sam Tinkler
I was initially drawn to yoga to complement my gym based fitness. Within a few classes I was hooked, drawn by not only the effect Yoga had on me physically but also emotionally and mentally. Yoga teaches you how to really listen to, and connect with, your body, your breath, and your mind. This connection is fundamental not only to my own personal practice, but also to my teaching. Drawing from the flow of Vinyasa and Hatha yoga and also the more passive and longer held postures of Yin yoga, my classes include a combination of flowing postures and held postures, to challenge the body in different ways, enabling deeper exploration of the practice and all the positive effects that Yoga brings. I hope that you will leave my classes feeling not only more flexible, stronger and invigorated, but also calmed, balanced and restored.

Description

Vinyasa or Flow Yoga is characterised by stringing postures together using the seamless connection to the breath. Using the combination of movement and breath cultivates deep awareness. Vinyasa classes include grounding and easing into the body to start, and breath practices to foster connection of mind and body. Once the class gets going it can be a dynamic practice. Vinyasa moves at the pace of the inhale and exhale, and can also includes postures held for a few breaths. Classes finish in a luxurious relaxation, where we release all effort and allow the body and mind to rest.
