Naz Mumeni
Shahnaz (“Naz”) is a mom of two teens who has moved back to Ottawa after 14 year in Montreal, is certified trauma‑informed and somatic‑therapy–based yoga instructor, wellness coach and certified personal trainer. Naz works with the Canadian forces Morale and welfare services and she holds a B.A. in Economics from Carleton University and brings a thoughtful, evidence‑aware approach to mind–body well‑being. Her teaching style is rooted in breath awareness and a gentle, Hatha-inspired approach that prioritizes slowing down, grounding, and reconnecting with the body. She believes that yoga postures are ultimately a preparation for stillness—creating the conditions for meditation, focus and calm to emerge naturally. Naz’s own daily meditation and breathwork practice has strengthened her concentration, improved her stress management, and supported better memory and sleep. These lived benefits shape the way she teaches: accessible movement, mindful pacing and practices that help people feel more centered and resilient in their workday. She offers yoga sessions designed to reduce tension, support mental clarity and create a moment of pause in the middle of busy schedules.

Description

Hatha with Naz is a 60 minute grounding yet empowering practice designed to cultivating strength, focus and mindful breathing.

This class combines traditional Hatha yoga principles with longer holds and slow, controlled transitions to challenge both body and mind.

Expect a slower pace with longer holds to build muscular endurance, joint stability, and balance, while improving posture and body awareness. Each movement emphasizes intentional alignment and engagement, helping to activate underused muscles and enhance overall functional strength.

Hatha is ideal for anyone looking to complement their fitness or yoga routine with mindful resistance work. It can help release tension, restore balance to the nervous system, and leave you feeling strong, centered, and deeply at ease.
