Hi! I’m Arleen; growing up in Rincón my life and lifestyle has always been coastal. I love swimming, snorkeling, and paddle boarding. I’ve practiced yoga at home for a little over ten years. I found my new wellness path at Centro La Paz after enrolling in my first Pilates reformer class with Vivienne Miranda. Since then, it’s been part of my wellbeing journey. After a few classes, I joined a Pilates Mat practice with Sara Robles who encouraged me to train as an instructor. In 2023 I completed several Balanced Body courses with second generation Pilates trainer the “Pilates Whisperer” Patricia Welters; a great inspirational teacher and coach. These courses included Pilates Mat 1, Mat 2, and Mat 3, as well as Movement Principles.
At La Paz Studio you can experience my Mat class with a focus on Classical Pilates. We will use breathing, balance, control and alignment techniques to engage your body through mindful movements that improves your strength, flexibility and resistance. The results will complement your surfing, paddle boarding, swimming or any Rincón visit experience.
Description
Mat Pilates is a strengthening and lengthening form of exercise that focuses on your core (trunk) muscles while also training your arms and legs. Mat Pilates is based on the original exercises Joseph Pilates developed to strengthen his own body as a young man. Pilates Mat work originated before the creation of any Pilates equipment or “machines” used in the practice today and includes over 500 exercises that can be practiced anywhere. Mat Pilates can be modified for any age, body, or fitness level, and it is even possible to practice modified Mat work in a chair.
